City of New Roads announces a ceremony marking the completion of the city’s lighting project to replace street lights on Main Street with high-performance new technology LEDs. The event will take place Thursday, July 1, 2021, at 7: 30 p.m. along Main Street in Downtown New Roads.
There will be a reception held in Doris Park. The Illumination of Main Street will be held promptly at 8:10 p.m. Residents of the city and parish of Pointe Coupee are invited to mingle, network, and view the new LED lights.
“Main Street is the heart of the city’s historic district and improving visibility for public safety for motorists and pedestrians was not an option,” says Mayor Dukes. “This is a step towards progression and moving the city forward.
Chustz Electric installed 28 federal green – custom lights and poles on Main Street. Main Street will close between New Roads and St. Mary during the ceremony.
