More than 55 miles away from the latest confirmed case of COVID-19 in Louisiana, the City of New Roads remain vigilant in keeping their residents on the down slope of the curve by placing hand wash stations strategically throughout the city.
Large robotic-shaped stations equipped with hand sanitizer and paper towels are a reminder to residents of a temporary new normal. “Good health is always a main priority but more now then ever”, said Mayor Cornell Dukes. “I urge everyone not to take anything lightly that’s being said by our nation’s leader, Governor, and other elected officials. COVID-19 can’t defeat us if we all work together”. The City of New Roads and Pointe Coupee parish have no confirmed cases of COVID-19.
In an extra effort to assist the city in a difficult time, Dukes issued an administrative order to halt termination of all public utilities. Public health and safety continue to be a priority amidst the coronavirus outbreak for Mayor Dukes.
