The City of New Roads Name the July 4th Theme Contest is now underway. The city is inviting everyone to submit ideas to find the best theme for the July 4, 2021 event. 

The contest is open to everyone regardless of domicile. Entries must reflect a New Roads-focused, patriotic, or global theme. The theme of July 4, 2020:  A Tribute to Frontline Workers – honored men and women serving on the frontline during the pandemic. 

 “This contest is a way to engage creative ideas from everyone,” stated Mayor Dukes.  “Not to mention the winning prize is an amazing weekend vacation in the Prettiest City on the Water. It does not get any better than that. I am excited to see the ideas.”

During the annual event, decorated boats of all sizes sail the parade route on False River. Live music will provide the soundtrack for the event.

The contest will accept submissions through June 11, 2021. Entries submitted will be judged based on the following criteria: originality and creativity. Entries are limited to one per person. The winning entry will win a weekend vacation in New Roads and VIP admittance to all New Roads events scheduled for 2021, including the annual Harvest Festival.
