Planning & Zoning Commission

The New Roads Planning and Zoning Commission is a local government board responsible for advising the city council on land use and development. Its duties include reviewing rezoning requests, site plans, subdivisions, and conditional use permits.  They also make recommendations for amendments to zoning and subdivision ordinances to promote orderly growth and the general welfare of the city. A city strategic plan specifically calls for the commission to be both proactive and reactive in its efforts and to have qualified and committed members.

Meetings are typically held on Mondays at 5:30 p.m. in the council room and are set when items are submitted for review by the Planning and Zoning Commission.
