The New Roads Main Street Program is a community-driven initiative dedicated to revitalizing and preserving the heart of our historic downtown created and supported by the City of New Roads. As part of the Louisiana Main Street network and the national Main Street America program, we work to foster economic growth, support small businesses, and celebrate the unique cultural heritage that makes New Roads special.
Our mission is to strengthen downtown New Roads as a vibrant hub of commerce, culture, and community life. We do this by promoting historic preservation, hosting engaging events, supporting local entrepreneurs, and enhancing the beauty and functionality of our Main Street district.
Through collaborative planning, investment, and volunteerism, the New Roads Main Street Program brings together residents, business owners, civic leaders, and visitors to shape a thriving, walkable, and welcoming downtown for generations to come.
We are proud to partner with a variety of local organizations to expand our impact and deepen our community roots. These include the Arts Council of Pointe Coupee, Pointe Coupee Parish Tourism, the Pointe Coupee Historical Society, and other civic and nonprofit groups. Together, we work to preserve our cultural heritage, promote the arts, support local tourism, and create meaningful opportunities for engagement and growth.
The New Roads Car Show is a beloved annual tradition that draws car enthusiasts from across the region to our scenic downtown. Held each spring on Main Street, this family-friendly event showcases classic cars, vintage trucks, muscle cars, and custom builds in a festive, small-town atmosphere. With live music, great food, local vendors, and plenty of Southern hospitality, the New Roads Car Show offers something for everyone while supporting local businesses and bringing the community together. It’s the perfect day to cruise through history and celebrate automotive art in the heart of New Roads.
Wine Down on False River is our signature fundraising event, held each spring along the picturesque banks of False River. This two-day celebration showcases wines from Napa Valley and beyond, gourmet tastings, live music, art, and Southern hospitality at its finest. Proceeds from Wine Down support the revitalization and preservation projects of the Main Street Program, helping us enhance and protect the historic charm of downtown New Roads.
Boo & Brew is our fall-themed street festival that brings spooky fun and seasonal cheer to downtown. Featuring a costume contest, craft beer tasting, food vendors, live music, and family-friendly activities, Boo & Brew is a favorite tradition that lights up Main Street with Halloween spirit. It’s a creative and playful way to bring the community together while supporting local businesses and drawing visitors to our historic district.
Whether you’re strolling along Main Street, shopping at a local boutique, enjoying a festival by the river, or exploring the history of our city, the New Roads Main Street Program is proud to help make those moments possible.
